7 Lieues takes its French flair to Asia with 8 Lines


Paris-based retail architecture agency 7 Lieues is taking its first steps abroad with the opening of a new agency – 8 Lines – in Hong Kong. It does so with the same commitment to clients shown in the 10 years since it was established: to provide ever-more innovative, high-performance retail spaces that create new customer experiences and match client expectations.

The new office, which will be located at the heart of China’s retail industry, comes as a timely response to the demands of Fashion Houses and Brands present in Asian markets. It will also serve existing clients looking to bolster their presence in Asia while keeping control of their architectural designs. All of this while benefiting from 7 Lieues’ uniquely French flair, in the form of support and bespoke expertise.

 

As mindful of its choice of words as it is in developing its architectural designs, 7 Lieues has opted for a pleasant-sounding name that suggests continuity in it’s positioning to enter this new market. The number 8 is considered lucky in China, as it sounds similar to the words “prosperity” and “balance”, making it the symbol of success. Better still, Chinese calligraphy is based on eight lines…

 

A lucky coincidence? Not quite: in addition to being graphically similar to 7 Lieues, the name 8 Lines also refers to the architectural lines and strokes employed in all architectural design plans and thus, by extension, to 7 Lieues’ signature savoir-faire.

 

“We have been harbouring ambitions to conquer this new market for several months now. Our clients, which are international luxury fashion houses, have been urging us to export our design and deployment expertise to the region, the idea being to mount a team comprised evenly of local project managers and French back-up” says Jérôme Caillet, Associate Director of 7 Lieues and 8 Lines.
