The iconic Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane was the venue for the 54th Contour Fashion Ball last night. The historic fundraiser welcomed key figures from across the intimate apparel industry for an evening of fine dining and entertainment, raising over £48k for Retail Trust and the Fashion and Textile Children’s Trust.

Celebrity designer Mark Heyes delighted the audience at the star-studded event; featuring tennis legend Annabel Croft, retail mogul Christopher Wicks, entrepreneur Harold Tillman and a host of celebrities and companies from across the lingerie and swimwear industry.

Representatives from; Fashion Forms, Invista, Next, Triumph International, Ultimo, New Look, Speedo, LF intimates, Wacoal Eveden, Pour Moi, DB  Apparel, Debenhams and others enjoyed an evening of fine dining, fundraising and outstanding music from Black and Gold.

After speeches by Sharon Webb, Chair of the Contour Committee and Retail Trust CEO Richard Boland, guests were invited to donate funds to Retail Trust and FTCT by bidding at an extravagant silent auction, sponsored by Invista.

Sharon Webb, overseeing her last Contour Ball as Chair of the Contour Committee said, “This evening will be my last as Chair, I’m proud to say in my time we have raised over a quarter of a million pounds and tonight we hope to add to that, raising money for two very  important retail charities. Thanks to all our sponsors, especially Fashion Forms whose support has been unwavering over the years.”

Webb then presented Peter Cronin of the Contour Committee with a plaque honouring his 30 years of service to the Contour Ball.

Richard Boland, Chief Executive of Retail Trust, spoke about the future of Retail Trust and the creation of RetailCURe, a credit union for all those who work in retail.

Boland said, “Tonight I want to talk about ‘tomorrow’, the future, and how we are involved as an industry to create Common Societal Value. Through the creation of the biggest Credit Union in the UK covering over 4.5 million workers in retail and associated industries we will be creating genuine CSV. We have already raised over £900k of pledge investments from our great industry to launch the Credit Union. But we need and want more; your investment is key to this.”

“By investing both as Corporate members and private members of the Credit Union you can help the 4.5 million people in the retail community.”

Anna Pangbourne, Director of FTCT, highlighted the importance of the Contour Fashion Ball, sponsored by Fashion Forms, to the children’s charity fundraising efforts.

Pangbourne said, “We are delighted to have been selected once again as joint beneficiary for this year’s Contour Ball. As a tiny team of just 4 people, our overheads are kept to a minimum, meaning every pound raised this evening, will go directly towards the children FTCT support. We are so grateful to everyone who makes a donation and for the committee’s ongoing support.”

As the evening came to a climax it was announced that over £48k had been raised on the night, with donations still being counted.
