2020 Vision for London’s West End

The New West End Company has unveiled the 2020 VISION for London’s West End. The company represents 600 businesses on Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street. The 2020 vision – comprising six key priorities for the West End – presents ambitions for the next 10 years, to drive London’s West End forward as a recognised and unchallenged destination for retail tourism, investment and leisure. These ambitions for London’s West End and the UK economy will reap sustainable long-term financial rewards, contributing to a dramatic 66 per cent increase in annual shopper spend, which will reach £10 billion by 2020, and attract a further 50 million visitors annually. New West End Company has produced a plan for the Big Six, outlining their key criteria. This can be viewed at www.newwestend.com/news. Andy Street, managing director of John Lewis, says: ‘The success of the West End is critical to John Lewis; it is by far and away our biggest business and so everything that the New West End Company is doing to promote the West End is crucial to our success. To me the most important thing about the New West End Company is that it has brought together all the interests – the landowners, the authorities, and of course the retailers – to speak with one voice. That’s got to be good for London when we’re competing internationally.’
